14th Annual Surf for a Cause
Margate, New Jersey
6 September

Longboard division offers slot in ASP invitational

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 August, 2014 - More than 100 surfers have registered for the biggest surf party of the year - the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation’s 14th annual Surf for a Cause Saturday, Sept. 6 at Decatur Avenue beach. Registration will close at noon Thursday, Sept. 4. There are no beach registrations. Register at here.

Also, The winner of the Longboard Division will receive a slot in a qualifying contest for the Association of Surfing Professionals DOAC Longboard Surfing Invitational. The ASP invitational contest will take place Sept. 19-21 in Atlantic City.

Presented by Cape Islands Building and Restoration, the contest has 11 divisions. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place in each division. Entries are $30 per division and include an event T-shirt and one ticket to the after party. Entries for additional divisions are $15 each. Boys younger than 11 years old and girls younger than 12 surf for free. There is also a Stand Up Paddleboard division.

Surfers are required to check-in between 7-8 a.m. the day of the event and the first heat begins at 8 a.m. Join us for an after party at 4 p.m. presented by Ventura’s Greenhouse with music by T.K. Howlers featuring Randazzo’s uncle Tom Keating.

Trustee Adam Walcoff of Linwood will be honored at the event for his dedication to the foundation. Under Walcoff’s leadership, the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation was established Sept. 5, 2001.

The inaugural Surf for a Cause was held 10 days later and raised $20,000. Since then, the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation has raised more than $500,000 for cancer research and this event has become an informal annual reunion of friends and family and those whose lives were affected by cancer.

The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation extends its warm thanks to the City of Margate for its continued cooperation and our generous sponsors: Cape Island Builders and Restoration DeNafo and Walcoff Attorneys at Law, Copiers Plus, Ventura’s Greenhouse, Bradford Tucker and the Rothman Institute, Harbor Outfitters and Shore Hardware.
