Artful, color-saturated meditation on global surf extremes
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 June, 2014 - When the award winning crew that created “Year Zero”, “Electric Blue” and “Ice Cream” spends two years shooting a single project, there’s little doubt that it will push all the limits.
Directed by Joe G and featuring Globe surf team riders Dion Agius, Nate Tyler, Taj Burrow, Damien Hobgood, Alex Smith, Yadin Nicol, Creed McTaggart, CJ Hobgood and Noa Deane - “Strange Rumblings in Shangri La is a modern surf film that documents an unforgettable worldwide journey from the frigid shores of Iceland to the sultry coastline of Mozambique. From well-known spots in Europe to exotic islands off the coast of Brazil and into Deepest Indonesia, this is their greatest adventure yet.
The land footage was shot on Super 16mm with an ARRI SR2 high speed on Kodak 50D stock. The movie will feature a mix of Super 16MM Film and Red. All water cinematography is Super 16MM by Rick Jakovich with his Photosonics and Bolex.
Be a part of the journey as Strange Rumblings in Shangri-LA roars to life this summer, premiering during the U.S. Open of Surfing on July 31st, before heading off on an international tour to Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, and across the U.S.A.
