New SW swell will continue to build throughout the day today
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 September, 2015 - Lowers, San Clemente - A lay day has been called at the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women's Pro, stops No. 8 and 7 respectively on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), with inconsistent surf on offer at Lower Trestles. Competition looks likely to resume tomorrow with the swell set to build throughout the day today.
"We've been watching things really closely all morning," said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. "The swell has slowly started to build in but the decent sets have been few and far between. Given that, and the fact that it's supposed to build throughout the day, we're going to be off for the day and come back in the morning. It's very likely that we'll be running the event tomorrow and we'll have an exciting Finals Day."
First to take to the water when competition resumes will be either Joel Parkinson (AUS) against Filipe Toledo (BRA) in the Men's Quarterfinals or Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) taking on Lakey Peterson (USA) in the Women's Semifinals.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition.
Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for: New SW swell will continue to build throughout the day on Thursday, offering fun, rippable surf, although a bit lully. New SSE swell will join the mix on Friday, as well as a modest pick up in local NW windswell, for continued fun surf, although a little more broken up. All swells will gradually trend down through the weekend.
