Record number of entries for Hurley BL's Blast Off

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 September, 2013 : - - The 2013 Hurley BL’s Blast Off presented by Beecraft has hit a record number of registrations with 365 kids, 14 and under entering the event to take place 23rd-26th September.

The event’s format is at capacity with Event Director and World Champion Surfer Barton Lynch commenting that there are waiting lists for every category.
Every year the event has increased by about 40 participants and next year BL says “In 2014 we may look at the possibility of adding another day to continue to expand with the demand of the event.”

BL’s Blast Off is Australia’s largest grom and family surfing event, BL says “It’s a popular event because it is designed not only as a competition but a coaching program that no other competition structure provides.” He says “there is so much demand that the event is single entry only unlike other events that competitors can enter in multiple divisions, at Blast Off our entrants only enter one division, making our total 365 entries this year a massive record number.”

This year 7 times World Champion Layne Beachley will be attending on Monday 23rd September. Layne has attended every event since it started and supports the unique coaching component of the event.

Other big names to look out for throughout the week include former World Champ and local Tom Carroll, Rabbit Bartholomew and Damian Hardman. In the judging booth we also have World Champion Long Boarder Harley Inglby and World Masters Champ Terry Richardson. BL says “We hope that all the kids will be inspired for their own greatness by the line up of surfing legends.”
