LOST EASTER PRO JUNIOR POWERS THROUGH DAY 1 AT COCOA BEACH PIER

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 April, 2007 : - - Cocoa Beach, Florida The Lost Easter Pro Junior commenced this morning with the opening rounds of competition in trying 1 foot surf at Cocoa Beach Pier.

The third stop on the 2007 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America Pro Junior Series, the Lost Easter Pro Junior saw the 80-competitor field narrowed down to the final 32 as a full day’s worth of action went down.

Despite the small conditions, some solid performances were put in by Michael Dunphy (Virginia Beach, VA), Scott Hammonds (Encinitas, CA), Shey Yates (Oceanside, CA) and Evan Thompson (Jacksonville Beach, FL).

Rob Kelly (Ocean City, NJ) finished today’s action with big scores that included the day’s two highest single wave scores of an 8.00 and a 7.15.   The prodigious goofy-footer tore apart the rippling peaks with an impressive mastery and style securing the day’s high heat total of a 14.15 out of a possible 20.

Tomorrow will see the Lost Easter Pro Junior continue with the Round of 32 featuring top seeds Blake Jones (Melbourne Beach, FL), Adam Wickwire (Satellite Beach), Cory Arrambide (Ventura, CA), current points leader on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series Travis Beckmann (Vero Beach, FL) and several others hit the water to battle it out for the lucrative prize purse, valuable ASP ratings points and the Lost Easter Pro Junior title.

Lost Easter Pro Junior competition will hit the water tomorrow at 10am local time with Round 4. Event updates and live scores will be available at aspnorthamerica.org
