North Pacific swings into action with all eyes on Mavericks

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 January, 2013 : - - It has been a relatively slow start for XXL surf in the Northern Hemisphere with the occasional great session at Mavs, Cortes Bank and Peahi.  Mavericks had a great day of surf for the competitors and alternates on Saturday, December 29th, with a swell reading 11-15ft @ 16 to 17.

The swell came under the blackout dates for the contest, although the conditions were perfect, the size was less than desirable for contest conditions. With the passing of the New Year we are eagerly awaiting a series of large systems capable of producing huge surf under clean conditions.

Stay tuned as the swell we have been waiting for may be just around the corner.  For more information about the contest and festival go to MavericksInvitational.com
