ASP Men's World Tour Event
Supertubos, Peniche Portugal
12 - 23 October 2014
More favorable wind looks possible for early next week
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 October, 2014 - Supertubos - Stop No. 10 of 11 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal, is on STANDBY today. Strong onshore winds have forced a second consecutive lay day and event organizers will reconvene on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 7:30 a.m. to make the next call.
“We've got pretty hideous conditions this morning”, said ASP Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. “Unfortunately everything came together today except for the wind and there's very strong southerly and southwesterly winds that are tearing it apart. We'll go on hold and come back tomorrow.”
Surfline, official forecaster for the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal, have called for: Very solid WNW groundswell will build in further and peak on Thursday before fading Friday. Unfortunately, strong onshore southerly wind and local wind/storm swell will also prevail for very poor conditions at Supertubos.
A reinforcing pulse of W swell will build through Saturday afternoon before easing over Sunday afternoon. Onshore southerly wind likely continues through the weekend but will at least back down a couple notches (especially through Sunday). More favorable wind looks possible for early next week as the weekend swell drops off. A modest, longer period W groundswell looks possible for the last couple days of the waiting period.
