Mark Mathews shoots Virtual Reality in Western Australia

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 22 September, 2014 - In their 12-year quest to bring people as close as possible to the heart-stopping, adrenaline-pumped reality of Big Wave surfing, Big Wave Surfer Mark Mathews and Producer Michael Lawrence have taken surf filming into another dimension.

In a World First, Mark Mathews, working with longtime friend, collaborator and Film/TV Producer Michael Lawrence, owner of Garage Entertainment have finally captured Virtual Reality Surfing footage using Triggar 360 Technology for usage in Virtual Reality headsets, taking the viewer inside the real time action of surfing the barrel of a 15 -foot wave.

Mark Mathews says, “I've been trying to show people what it is like to stand in a huge barrel my entire career and Garage Entertainment and Triggar 360 Technology have allowed me to achieve just that."

Bruce and Rob Allan from Triggar 360 Technology add, "After a month testing and shooting the Triggar 360 Technology, we've finally captured that experience and this Virtual Reality process."

Michael Lawrence says “This is the closest you are going to get to having a Big Wave surfing experience without paddling out yourself and taking your life in your hands."
