Check Firewire's 2016 line of surfboards

Brand:
Firewire
Price:
From $725 to $860

Most notable additions to the line this year come from Rob Machado and Wingnut who launched their signature models while Tomo, Dann Mann and Pyzel offer up new sleds as well. One of the first surfboard manufacturers to focus their work and philosophy on flex, Firewire continues their refined trio of construction offerings withTimberTek, Future Shape Technology and Linear Flex Technology.

FST
(Future Shape Technology) - FST relies primarily on the PARABOLIC Balsa Rail to control flex while the high density aerospace composite vacuumed to both the top and bottom decks provides significant impact strength, and is stronger than a traditional PU surfboard.

LFT
(Linear Flex Technology) White Deckskin or Bamboo Deckskin - LFT incorporates Firewire’s SPRINGER HD, a 0.75" (18 mm) wide aerospace composite that runs down the centerline of the board, representing the next generation in our SPRINGER technology. The SPRINGER HD runs the entire length of the board and plays a pivotal role in optimizing flex from nose to tail.

TT
(TimberTek) - The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown Paulownia wood deck skins, Firewire’s proprietary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewire’s existing technologies.

EVO
EVO (Evolution) is a new take on the MPH design, utilizing softer features and more outline curve to encourage a smoother transitions and a more  ‘in the pocket’ line of attack. A wider central wide point comparative to the Vader, the EVO should be considered favorable to smaller weaker waves, however like most Tomo MPH Designs , the EVO will still be quite functional in overhead waves conditions.

Maintaining  an almost symmetrical outline and a completely unique and highly innovative “Double inside single concave into split quad concave” planing hull, The EVO feels as if it’s almost ‘levitating’ on the water! Yet once on rail,  it has a precise rail sensitivity and hold. The EVO should be ridden as short as possible with user friendly volumes packed into the shortest MPH sizings yet offered by Tomo.

GREEDY BEAVER
The Greedy Beaver has a real shortboard feel with a compressed longboard outline, a true crossover board with midlength retro glide and shortboard maneuverability. Put it on rail while engaging the single to double concave, step on the rounded pin and it surfs like a shortboard in the pocket. Or take advantage of the single to double concave and large planing surface to trim effortlessly over dead sections. The beveled rail reduces the overall thickness, adding performance including rapid direction changes. Raise your wave count every session with the paddle power of the Greedy Beaver while turning on a dime as you thread your way through the pack.

THE SLAB
The Slab by Pyzel represents John John Florence's ideas refined into his perfect free surfing model. John John wanted 3 inches off the nose of his normal shortboard and an increased tail rocker. This resulted in a fuller nose, fatter top section and an extremely high performance fun board that goes well in a range of conditions.

MIND CRAFT
Dan Mann explains the origins of the Mind Craft, ”My son Lance needed a fast and loose high-performance shortboard that was also stable for a young surfer; and that still paddled really well while he developed upper body strength. Many of the boards available for kids are scaled down versions of a traditional high performance shortboard. We found that the foam distribution, outline and clean rocker of the Mind Craft were better suited to high performance surfing without sacrificing paddle speed and stability”.

WINGNUT NOSERIDER
The Wingnut Noserider embodies the best qualities of the original Wingnut Model and the Mark Martinson Model. The slightly pulled tail, in conjunction with softer rails, result in ultra-smooth turns and cutbacks to go along with improved control, stability, and nose riding. Single Fin with Tail Block Standard.

CREEPER
Shaped by the style master himself. Rob Machado has created a low entry rocker, 70's inspired board coupled with a curvy fuller outline in the tail to allow quick direction changes yet still provide effortless gliding. Whether you are driving off the bottom or setting some serious high lines, you'll be sure to do so with Rob's nonchalant style.

ALMOND BUTTER
Designed by pro surfer and ocean advocate Rob Machado, the Almond Butter surfboard just says FUN all over it. Rob has always been known as one to carve his own path in the surf world which his designs express. The board is versatile enough to surf in small waves on up to over head hollow conditions. The classic short board design with Rob's own special sauce makes this a fun board for any surfer. With a 5-fin setup the possibilities are endless.

SEAXE
This board in the Crossover category of board design which fits nicely in this often overlooked part of a quiver.  What went into this board is an intense level of attention to detail with Wingnut's input and experience.  There's a significant amount of volume stashed within the sensitive, performance rail and the nicely foiled nose and tail.  The bottom is made up of a mostly flat entry that flows into a bellied V that runs out the tail.  The rocker is curvy and allows for versatility and maneuverability as well as drawing clean lines. The range of surf that a board like this will work for rivals most any style of board.

THE AMIGO
The heart of the Amigo is a very fast, very user friendly rocker that not only gains speed easily, but has a loose, snappy feel in all kinds of waves. The outline is full, with a nice hip leading into a wide tailblock which adds to the speed but lets it break free where you want it to. The bottom has single concave running all the way through, with just a touch of double concave between the fins. This combo gives lift to get the board planing on top of the water easily and helps maintain speed through flatter, weaker sections. If you love riding a stubbie, but you crave a more high performance feeling, the Amigo is going to be the board for you.

BAKED POTATO
Dan Mann has struck gold again, Yukon Gold. The BAKED POTATO offers the same small wave performance as the SWEET POTATO with a few subtle design adjustments. The nose is pulled in slightly and some of the rail volume has been removed to allow for even faster rail to rail transfers. The BAKED POTATO has the same aggressive double concaves and 'V-spline' running down the center of the board which allows the board to get up on the rail much faster than the overall design would indicate. Primarily designed for smaller, weaker conditions, the BAKED POTATO will surprise you by its performance characteristics, and how the quad fins set further back and closer to the rail than usual, allow the board to hold with- out sliding, even in larger surf. Get cooking on a BAKED POTATO.
