First annual Sydney Surf Film Festival seeks submissions
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 August, 2014 - As the beginning of summer starts to appear along the Australian coastline with longer days and warmer water, a new annual event celebrating surf culture will be arriving in Sydney.
In order to keep the surf masses happy across the surfing communities of Sydney, we are pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Sydney Surf Film Festival (SSFF) for 2014 with an open call for film submissions to national and international surf filmmakers. SSFF will become Australia’s premiere surf film competition with the aim of promoting the surf film genre and inspiring future surf filmmakers to document the exploration and progression of our sport.
Kicking off in November and timed perfectly at the beginning of summer, SSFF will reach out from the city to each beachside community with events strewn along the coast. From Bondi to Manly, SSFF will hit the original surf city for 3-weeks of incredible surf film screenings, photographic exhibitions and live music events as part of the citywide festival and annual celebration of surf culture.
Films will be selected by a screening panel of independent judges that will decide the official selection and award winning films for the 2014 competition. All films that celebrate the art of wave riding will be considered.
Call for surf film submissions:
We have officially opened up the call for submissions to the festival and we encourage surf filmmakers from around the world to enter the festival competition.
