SURF FILM DOUBLE BILL NIGHT 11.11.07
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 October, 2007 : - - Here some brief details of the FILM NIGHT EVENT we are staging in Beverley as a fund raiser for Surfers Against Sewage on 7.15pm Sunday 11th November 2007. Please see the printable Word version poster copy and CD cover artwork for NINEHUNDREDMILES attached.
This the very first EVER showing ever of NINE HUNDRED MILES , directed and produced by Scarborough filmographer and surfer Oliver Banks which focuses on the U.K.s East Coast from Scotland's world famous reef breaks all the way down to Yorkshire's very own big wave spots, plus there will be brand new footage of triple overhead Thurso shot 2 only weeks ago.
We are also screening Step into The Realm (2006) made by Tim Davies, who has kindly agreed for us to allow us to show this new film (which has even more footage of the East Coast) which features some of the best British surfers in the best conditions on offer in the UK and Europe with bangin' soundtrack!.
As well as showing these 2 films in their entirety during the two planned intermissions we will be showing other surf films including View from The Green Room from Surfers Against Sewage a film that amply describes and reflects upon the continuing danger of pollution to our coastal waters from poor shipping practices and unregulated discharges of toxic chemicals, and the threat to surfing from climate change.
There are also plenty of useful tips and actions we can take to preserve our ocean playgrounds for the next generation of water users too. With use of The Beverley Film Society's professional kit and staff who are supplying a full sized screen with a matching mega sound system , and a licensed bar w e reckon this how surf films used to be /should be shown !!!
