World Surfaris back on board for fourth year with Noosa Festival of Surfing

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 December, 2015 - The Noosa Festival of Surfing has been blessed with the kind support and generosity of World Surfaris for the past four years, and for 2016, Australia’s premier surf tour operator will return, bigger and better than ever before.

The World Surfaris Competitor Draw is a prize coveted by every entrant. Not dependent on skills, results, age or gender, the only qualifying requirement is that you must compete. Each of the 700-plus entrants in the 2016 Noosa Festival of Surfing is in the running to win a spectacular prize package, comprising return air fares for two with Air Niugini, accommodation at the secluded Tupira Surf Club, Madang Province, Papua New Guinea, and with the expert World Surfaris team catering to their every whim.

Fingers and toes will be crossed in the sand of Noosa’s First Point on the 12th March, the closing night of celebrations for the Festival’s 25th Anniversary.

This year, it was Californian, Michael Takayama, who was the lucky recipient of a week-long World Surfaris vacation in the Maldives and, as every person in the XXXX Summer Beach Bar could attest, no one could have been more deserving.

“It was amazing winning the trip to the Maldives,” recalls Michael of the trip he took in October. “I filled out the form on the morning of the finals when I was getting a coffee, never expecting to win. I surfed the finals and made 2nd place, but found out just an hour later my father had passed away, and then we ended up winning the trip. What an emotional roller coaster that day was!”

Through tears of sadness and gratitude, Michael embraced World Surfaris’ director, John Finlay, his son and fellow competitor Kaimana, on stage with him to share the moment.

“World Surfaris made it very easy,” says Michael of his once-in-a-lifetime prize, “Hudhuranfushi Resort was absolutely beautiful! Our room was very comfortable, and very close to the surf, and the food was amazing - I think I gained a few pounds even after surfing six hours a day!  We were told it was off-season for surf; well, I'll take off-season any day of the week! The surf was never under head high, and the wave was a left-point machine. It also didn't hurt that we were the only ones in the water for five days.”

The impeccable work of World Surfaris has been enjoyed by thousands of happy surfers. The team, avid surfers themselves, caters specifically to surfing needs, from superb accommodation - on land or on luxurious boats - to any level of experience, in a far-reaching range of destinations, including Papua New Guinea, Fiji, South America and Tonga. But, as Michael experienced first-hand, they don’t just send you somewhere, they are with you every step of the way:

“Hoobz, Smiley, and Ali were the local surf guides. They were really great guys and good surfers. It's always great making new friends. All in all, this was one of the best trips I've ever been on in my life. I would like to thank World Surfaris, and all the Noosa folks that helped make this happen.”

World Surfaris is once again offering a prize through the Noosa Festival of Surfing.
