Surfing NSW adds two rounds of Bodyboarding State Titles
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 March, 2014 - Surfing NSW is proud to announce that 2014 will see two rounds of NSW Bodyboard State Titles in both Kiama and Harrington.
The Kiama event will kick off the two-round series when it hits the wave-rich region from the 2nd – 4th of May, 2014. The Harrington event will round out the series and is set to kick off from the 11th – 14th of July 2014.
Total points from both rounds will be tallied and used to select the team to represent the state at the 2014 national titles.
As part of the bodyboarding fine-tuning process, Surfing NSW will also implement free club challenges at both State Title rounds with the winning club from each State Title round claiming $250.00 and the overall winner claiming $500.00.
One day prior to the NSW Bodyboard State Titles at Harrington, Surfing NSW will coordinate a free coaching day and Surfing NSW’s free CPR and board rescue course Surfers Rescue 24/7.
Two development days for the bodyboard community are slated to take place at Maroubra and Port Macquarie later in the year.
Surfing NSW recently joined forces with professional bodyboarder and IBA World Tour competitor David Winchester, who has come onboard with Surfing NSW as Bodyboarding Coaching Director.
Winchester - who is a multiple IBA World Tour event champion – is excited to offer a wealth of knowledge to the grassroots bodyboarding community through various coaching and development clinics.
“I'm stoked to come on board with Surfing NSW and hope I can help improve the growth of grassroots bodyboarding in the near future,” said Winchester. “I appreciate all the luxuries bodyboarding has afforded me and I'm excited if I can help any other aspiring bodyboarders to help chase their dreams as well."
Surfing NSW will introduce a monthly NSW bodyboard Enews, which will communicate all bodyboard happenings in the state to clubs and members.
