Snapper Rocks beats Kirra to claim Queensland Be the Influence Boardriders Battle

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 November, 2013 : - - Gold Coast, Queensland - Snapper Rocks Surfriders have cemented their place in Australian boardriding history today after winning the inaugural Queensland Be the Influence Australian Boardriders Battle on the Gold Coast.

Snapper Rocks called upon the services of current Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Champion Joel Parksinson, five times women’s World Champion, Steph Gilmore, World Tour qualifier Mitch Crews and Tour veteran Dean Morrison throughout the two-day qualifying event that will see them at the nation final next year.

“On tour, if I lose a heat I get disappointed in myself, but the thought of losing a heat for my club is way worse,” laughed Parkinson, who also managed four straight wins in the skins component of the event, adding 1300 extra points to the team’s accumulative tally.

Arch rivals Kirra Surfriders placed second to Snapper Rocks despite current ASP World Title contender, Mick Fanning donning a singlet for the team, but will also join them along with D’Bah Boardriders at the national final in Cronulla, NSW over the 2014 Australia Day long weekend. For the win, Snapper Rocks take home $2000, Kirra - $1500, D’Bah - $1000 and Burleigh - $500.

In total, $105,000 is up for grabs across the entire National Series including the National Final. There is $30,000 available across the seven State qualifying events, while $75,000 will be split between the 16 clubs that make the National Final.
