Joel Parkinson is World Champ and Pipe Master!
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 December, 2012 : - - Banzai Pipeline, Oahu/Hawaii -The Billabong Pipe Masters In Memory of Andy Irons concluded on Friday in spectacular way. The 2012 ASP World Title was decided between Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Kelly Slater (USA) with Parkinson finally holding the World Title trophy above his head in front of thousands of surf fans.
Slater was defeated by Josh Kerr (AUS) in the semi finals finishing his chance of winning a 12th World Title. Waves were in the 6 to 8-feet for most of the day..Sebastien Zietz (HAW) won the 2012 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing title winning $100,000, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a $10,000 Nixon watch..
GO PARKO was the theme of the day and he rose to the occasion nailing his first win of the year in the final heat of the year. Parko has been runner up to the World Title 3 times but today he went one better finally holding the World Title trophy above his head in front of thousands of surf fans.
