More Fiji Images from Peter 'Joli' Wilson's stint at Cloudbreak
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 June, 2013 : - - Bula from Cloudbreak Fiji, The Volcom Pro Fiji kicked back into top gear today with a building south swell which hit the 3 meter mark by dark. South East Trade winds kept the barrels open and the guys left in the comp got pitted again and again. The contest ran from 7.30 am until nearly dark tonight as they squeezed in 17 heats finishing Round 3, Round 4 and Round 5.
The contest is now down to the quarters and there are some serious match ups heading our way tomorrow. John John vs Jordy, Parko vs Mick Fanning. Any of these 4 guys could be a world champ this year… but then let's not forget Kelly, who is still in the mix ....
Today's surfing was amazing to watch and photograph. Some of the tour rookies stood up like Nat Young, and Kolohe Andino while guys like CJ Hobgood and Kelly Slater showed off their intermat knowledge of Cloudbreak while Parko drew amazing lines in the barrel and along the face.
The swell is supposed to hang around for tomorrow with just a slight increase in the wind speed. It's shaping up as another crazy day of surfing and with only 11 heats left to run a new Volcom Pro Fiji will be crowned by early afternoon. It's too hard to pick the winner right now but we'll know soon enough. I've loaded up some images from today and will load up more tomorrow. There is also a bunch of free surfing from the last few days in this Gallery.
