Philips and O’Neill range hits the road


Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 March, 2011 : - - Warmond, The Netherlands -- Philips and O'Neill are gearing up to take the collaboration's 'Tested on Animals' product range to a whole new level over the course of the next 12 months. Re-enforcing the super-durable characteristics of the new line of Philips | O'Neill headphones, the partners presented today the latest models of the range and announced, the campaign will soon hit the road on both sides of the Atlantic.

In line for March 2011, Philips and O’Neill developed two new mobile phone headphones, all with remote control and microphone. ‘The Stretch’ over-ear headphones comes in a new Matte Black colorway. ‘The Specked’ in-ear headphones will feature two new color options: Black / White and Green Multi.


The introduction of these new models will be supported by two enormous, co-branded trucks, dubbed the ‘Mobile Test Labs’. One of them weaves its way across Europe, while the other takes on the US. With no final destination in mind, the trucks will call at handpicked hotspots to provide consumers and trade with a chance to put the super-durable Philips | O'Neill headphones to the test.  

Scheduled to pit stop at major surf and snow events including the O'Neill Cold Water Classic Series and the TTR 6-Star O'Neill Evolution, the heavily-armored Mobile Test Labs promise to generate a significant amount of buzz wherever they pull in. In addition to major surf and snow events, the trucks will map out routes to music festivals, trade and consumer fairs and conventions.

Every time the Labs pit, people will have a chance to volunteer as Test Animals for the new line of headphones. Mounted on the back of imposing, all-terrain trucks, the Labs will transport volunteers into a whole new world, where howling wind, loud music, mesmerizing video projections and moving floors come together to create a truly memorable user experience. Photographic evidence of each test experience will be made available.

The European Mobile Test Lab kicks off its epic voyage with an exclusive press event in Barcelona on March 8. The US-based truck, meanwhile, will fire up its engine for the first time in May. The beauty of these mobile laboratories is that everybody can become a Test Animal now for Philips | O'Neill and have a great experience.
