Rip Curl appoints new Japanese licensee
International surfing company Rip Curl is pleased to announce the appointment of World Search Company Limited as the new licensed distributors and manufacturers of Rip Curl-branded products in Japan and Taiwan, effective immediately.
World Search is a newly-created subsidiary of established Tokyo-based fashion group Collaboration Company Limited, and plan to open their first Rip Curl concept shop in Tokyo´s premiere youth fashion district, Harajyuku, in mid-April.
With Rip Curl´s long-established global presence in the hard core surfing equipment market, and Collaboration´s intimate knowledge of and experience in the fashion-forward Japanese market, both companies are predicting strong, stable growth for business in the region.
Announcing the new venture, Rip Curl International General Manager Grant Forbes said: "While Rip Curl has had a presence in the Japanese market since the early 1980s, joining with Collaboration for the creation of World Search Company Limited is a major breakthrough in helping Rip Curl to secure a stronger presence in the growing markets in Japan and Taiwan, and generally bolsters our East Asian business."
First established as a surfboard maker in Victoria, Australia in 1967, Rip Curl has grown to become one of the world´s leading surfing companies. The Rip Curl product range now includes surfboards, wetsuits, surfwear, watches, travel bags and backpacks, footwear and mountainwear, which is available in more than 50 countries across the globe.
