Surfrider warns 'Bulldozers on their way to Bastion Point'
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 October, 2013 : - - Bastion Point in the Australian state of Victoria has been at the center of a heated public-use argument. Recently Surfrider launched the below information regarding the campaign to stop a rock wall from being contructed through the middle of the pointbreak. As it stands today, authorities are ready begin work...
According to Surfrider: "Surfing is the main recreational sport this remote community has in the far east wilderness coast of Victoria, Australia. Locals have fought this development for nearly 20 years. Over 85% of submissions to the all public inquiries strongly opposed this development.
What’s crazy is that there is a sustainable, lower cost, and much better alternative to open ocean access at Bastion Point - even the State Government recommended other options. But the local East Gippsland Shire Council is doggedly sticking to its plans to destroy this surf break.
Surfrider and Victoria National Parks Association are strong supporters of this campaign. It's not over yet, but we urgently need you to send a quick and easy email to the Premier of the State."
