Rusty rider Willian Cardoso rises through the ranks
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 May, 2010 : - - Willian Cardoso is now the sixth Brazilian among the 10 who classifies in the 2011 ASP World Tour by ASP World Ranking. He rose up twenty positions, jumped from 52nd to 32nd place after the 19th stop completed at the Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro 2010.
Willian Cardoso was just crowned as new king of Saquarema, after a thrilling heat against Marco Polo, both from south of Brazil.
Marco Polo started early in the heat surfing as much as possible while Willian sat and waited for the best waves as he did in his previous heats. He was rewarded in the last 10 minutes with a 9.0 pt ride followed by a 7.73 pt ride which set up another heat total in the excellent range like his previous heats.
"I have no words. Winning here at Saquarema with the beach packed like a stadium, it's an indescribable feeling," said Willian Cardoso. "I did not start well the heat, I was anxious, doing wrong moves as wasnt doing before, but when I found a nine point ride, I knew that I had already turned the heat situation and when I was paddling back I got another good wave and only then began believing in the win."
