XXL day at Belharra Reef sends flurry of entries to Billabong XXL Awards
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 December, 2013 - Sunday the 22nd of December saw perfect conditions at Belharra Reef in Saint-Jean de Luz, France. A swell of 25 feet at 19 seconds with light offshore winds under a sunny sky created flawless waves for the tow-in teams that were out there and also for the thousands of spectators watching from the cliffs and from the boats in the Channel.
Amongst the usual suspects in the line up were Billabong team riders Benjamin "Sancho" Sanchis and Justine Dupont. Both had a great time with Sanchis catching one of the biggest wave of the day on an unusual right hander (Belharra being often seen breaking left) and Justine catching three beautiful waves in about 5 minutes in the morning plus a couple of bombs in the afternoon that were much bigger than the waves she caught during her first attempt on this same spot in October
Their rides will be entries at the Billabong XXL competition which will be decided in May 2014.
