Save the Waves and friends release new film "The Fisherman's Son"

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 April, 2015 - Ventura, California - Save The Waves Coalition announces the launch of the #LobosPorSiempre campaign. To kick off the campaign, Patagonia and Farm League have co-produced a new film, “The Fisherman’s Son”, documenting the life of Ramon Navarro and the coast he is now fighting to protect.

The film trailer can be viewed now and the full film will be released on April 28, 2015, or seen on the films traveling tour.

Save The Waves has been working tirelessly with Ramon and local community activists to hold back the tide of development threatening his home break of Punta de Lobos. One of the best left-hand point breaks on the planet, the place is also host to rich marine and terrestrial biodiversity, and home to traditional fishing communities.

“I have traveled all over the world and I realized the most amazing place was my own backyard at Punta de Lobos” said Ramon, “I wanna protect this place for the fishermen and surfers who live there now and for the generations to come.”

The goal of the Lobos Por Siempre campaign is to raise money to permanently protect the place as a World Surfing Reserve by creating a local foundation to conserve the lands, creating a marine protected area, and supporting ongoing stewardship projects on the Point.

Save The Waves has partnered with Crowdrise to open this campaign to anyone who wants to participate. Support the efforts of Save The Waves, Ramon and local community activists to preserve Punta de Lobos by donating or starting a fundraising team at  100% of Crowdrise funding goes directly to preserve and protect this iconic place and all donations are tax-deductable.
