Shagri La Studio in Brooklyn hosts film festival
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 November, 2013 - This Friday, November 15 join Save The Waves Film Festival for an evening of live music and new documentary surf films at the legendary Shangri La Studio in Brooklyn.
The festivities begin at 6PM with a cash bar sponsored by Pacifico, Tito's Vodka and Clase Azul Tequila. The celebration continues with a live musical set from Brooklyn underground blues-grunge phenoms Slothrust, described by the New Yorker as, "Slinging pleasingly distorted guitars over thoughtful lyrics."
"With their irresistible punchy momentum and undeniable technical precision, Slothrust updates grunge to a new territory without giving up any lo-fi ground.”
Save The Waves Film Festival features a carefully curated selection of short films uniting ocean activism, documentary film, epic adventures and surfing, wedded together in an original blend of refined inspiration and pure stoke.
This event also features the world premiere of Se7en Signs, the brand-new surf travel epic from director Nathan Myers and executive producer Taylor Steele. This version of Se7en Signs is a new custom film edit -- new and improved -- from the same film which recently premiered at Save The Waves Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Filmmaker and writer Nathan Myers of the Innersection film series will attend the film festival to introduce Se7en Signs on Friday night.
