ReRip.com and Sustainable Surf Coalition offer surfboard recycling in San Francisco
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 October, 2011 : - - San Francisco -- Rerip and the Sustainable Surfing Coalition have partnered to provide a surfboard recycling location in San Francisco. Aqua Surf Shop (by Ocean Beach) is now accepting surfboards for recycling, becoming the newest Rerip recycling location. As part of the launch of the program, Rerip will also be recycling all of the surfboards broken by athletes during the Rip Curl Pro Search Contest, scheduled between Nov. 1-12 at Ocean Beach. The Search is the first professional contest to be held in San Francisco for over ten years.
Aqua Surf Shop sells surfboards, surf accessories, wetsuits, skateboards, bodyboards, apparel and accessories; the shop is inspired by good relationships and communication with their shapers. If you have a dinged up old board or a sick stick you dont surf any more drop it off at Aqua Surf Shop to help the environment and a surfer in need.
Surfboards in any condition can be dropped off at any of the Rerip recycling locations, including Aqua Surf Shop, Patagonia in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Ventura, Noll Surfboards in San Clemente, and Coconut Petes in San Diego. Surfable and repairable boards are donated to local and international youth programs or resold at low prices to support the recycling program. Unrideable boards and remnants are used in the Rerip artist network and for research and development.
