Born in 1972 and raised in Kona, Hawaii, Shane Dorian became one of the most well rounded surfers of his generation. Dorian turned pro at the age of 17 and joined the world tour in 1992. As part of the Momentum era, Dorian’s agile tube riding and exciting airs took him to #4 in 2000 before retiring in 2003. He has also carved a spot as one of the best big-wave riders in the world. Dorian was named Waterman of the Year by the Surf Industry Manufacturers' Association in 2012.
