After drive to hospital, surfer informed wounds were from a shark
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 December, 2013 - A surfer has suffered a minor wound after a suspected shark attack at Port Macquarie on Thursday evening. About 6.15pm Thursday, a 26-year-old surfer at the northern end of Shelly Beach felt something hit his right hand.
The man noticed he had cuts to his right hand and blood on his leg. He did not see a shark and was unaware at the time that he could have been bitten by one. The surfer, police said, took himself to Port Macquarie Base Hospital where he was informed the wounds were consistent with a shark bite.
He is being treated for puncture wounds to his hand and a cut to his leg. He is not expected to be hospitalised for any great length of time.
