Forecast predicts 4-6ft surf, so directors give the go-ahead

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 July, 2016 - The Sniper SA Tand Invitational 2016 is set to run this Sunday, the 10th of July, in predicted 4-6ft conditions.

The contest directors gave the official go-ahead this morning, meaning that South Africa’s best bodyboarders will descend upon the small town of Paternoster, on the West Coast of Cape Town, to battle it out for this year’s Tand Champion title.

“We are expecting 4-6ft waves throughout the day on Sunday, with sunny skies and clean off shore winds.” says contest director Jarret Johnson. “The swell forecast has been stable all week, making the call a bit easier than years before. The Tand Team and I are happy and confident to give the Sniper SA Tand Invitational 2016, the green light!”

Along with the green light, the Sniper SA Tand Invitational released the heat draws for this year’s event in video format.

Check that out here:

In 2011 and 2012, current APB World Bodyboarding Champion, Jared Houston was crowned Tand winner. In 2013 and 2014, super grom Tristan Roberts accomplished back-to-back wins too. In 2015 Tristan was dethroned by Durban shredder, Michael Ostler.

Can he follow the trend set by Jared and Tristan and claim back-to-back wins too? Come spectate on Sunday to find out! Or check the Facebook page for updates.

Other competitors in this year’s Sniper SA Tand Invitational are 2 x World Champion Andre Botha, 2012 Dropknee World Champion Sacha Specker, SA Champion Storm Prestwich, women’s SA Champion Pamela Bowren, as well as a host of new names to keep the competition fresh.
