Pro AM Paddle Race Series

Bonita Cove, Mission Bay, San Diego
7 August, 2016

Series designed to include everyone from beginners & novice paddlers to Elite world class athletes

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 August, 2016 - RVLT Surf announces stop #2 of the ISLE Sunday X3 Pro Am Paddle Race Series presented by Westcoast Paddlesports.

Top athletes, manufacturers & brands are expected to converge on Mission Bay this weekend. Stand Up & Prone Paddlers can compete in this single event or the entire series for their chance at custom made trophies, new boards, new paddle gear & bragging rights.

"This series is designed to include everyone from beginners & novice paddlers to Elite world class athletes" says co founder Brian Terhorst, "Our 10K, 5K, 3K & 1.5K courses offer something for all levels."

The Elite 10K includes a bay/jetty/ocean challenge. The elite divisions offer a cash prize purse to help attract world class athletes from around the globe. Past events have seen Mo Frietas, Ryan Helm, Chuck Glynn & even Kai Lenny. The SundayX3 Paddle Race is fast becoming San Diego's signature Pro Am Series.

"We got kinda bored with other paddle events" adds co-founder Leslie Terhorst, "After the start, the athletes disappear into the distance for an hour or more. We found that spectators, parents & friends of the competitors wanted to see more... not just the start & the finish."

She explains,"Our courses are mapped out so the athletes loop back in front of the spectators so everyone can experience the racing drama as it unfolds. The 1.5 technical & the Kids Fun Run stay entirely inside Bonita Cove, so all eyes are on the younger paddlers as they compete."

Brian adds, "Our goal is to help grow the sport of paddle racing & introduce as many people to this health lifestyle as possible. It's definitely addictive & the people you'll meet are some of the coolest people around." He continues, "We've seen our weekend warriors paddle side by side for miles with our challenged athletes. Now, If that doesn't inspire you to get out there... I don't know what will"

Other elements include live music, raffles, food & drinks. Admission to the venue is free & the events are family friendly.
