Original all-girls' surf school awarded SIMA award

Last week at the Grove of Anaheim, Surf Diva Boutique was honored with the Surf Industry Manufacturer's Association (SIMA) Women’s Retailer of the Year Award 2013.
"In 2003 our shop was in a hallway and covered balcony, so to flash forward and win this award is totally incredible. We love what we do everyday and are inspired by all the divas who shop, surf, SUP and play with us!" said Coco Tihanyi, Co-owner, Surf Diva Boutique.
Close to 900 people attended the ceremony at the legendary awards show last night. "This is the surf industry's version of the Oscars," said Izzy Tihanyi, Co-owner of Surf Diva.
The annual SIMA Image Awards sets the bar for brands and retailers within the action sports industry, honoring outstanding achievements in the past year and setting the standards by seeding new inspirations for the upcoming year.
The SIMA Women's Retailer of the Year is awarded to the specialty retailer that featured the best selection, product mix and merchandising in the women’s category.
The twin sisters and Co-owners of Surf Diva, Izzy Tihanyi and Coco Tihanyi are thrilled and as Coco explains, "There is so much opportunity for growth and expansion right now in both surfing and standup paddleboarding; we look forward to opening additional stores and surf schools with the right licensing partners on the coast as well as inland and internationally."
Founded as the original all-women's surf school in 1996, Surf Diva opened its' retail division in a grass-roots way due to the demand of their students for authentic women's gear.
The shop is located at La Jolla Shores Beach in California and features a hand selected mix of women's surf apparel, accessories and hardgoods from brands including Hurley, Roxy, Quiksilver, Nixon, Sanuk, Stance, L Space, Toms, Focus SUP Hawaii, Globe Skateboards, The Peoples Movmt, Pura Vida, Vans, Team Phun, Indo Sole, Surf Monkey, and many more.
