Man had complained of chest pains
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 September, 2014 - Australian surfer 'had chest pain' before being found dead off Indonesia, police say Indonesian police say an Australian surfer, who was found dead off Lombok east of Bali, had previously complained of chest pain to his friends. The 54-year-old man was found floating in the surf 100 metres from shore at Sorga Beach on Friday.
Earlier reports suggested he was swamped by a big wave before being found. Lombok police told a cameraman, who does contract work for ABC News in Lombok, that the man had complained of chest pain three days before he was found dead.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed the man's death on Lombok and said consular assistance was being provided to his friends.
