Fox Sports Exec Carly Loder appointed to Surfing Australia board

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 November, 2013 - Coolangatta - Director of Marketing and Communications for FOX SPORTS Australia Carly Loder has been appointed to the Board of Surfing Australia.

Loder is a marketing professional with more than 16 years of corporate marketing experience and has held senior roles covering all disciplines in marketing and communications with deep experience across the brand, digital and innovation disciplines.

Previous to her role at FOX SPORTS, Loder was the Chief Marketing Officer for BT Financial Group.

“I am honoured and thrilled to be joining the Surfing Australia Board in 2014,” Loder said. “Surfing was a huge part of my upbringing being originally from Avalon on the Northern Beaches where the beach and the ocean dominated our culture and passions.

“I hope to bring my marketing and digital experience to the table, particularly looking to help with the growth of the mySURF.tv business.  I would like to thank Norm Innis, Andrew Stark and Layne Beachley in my nomination to the Board and look forward to being part of one of Australia’s greatest sporting companies.”

Surfing Australia chairman Norm Innis said the election of Loder to the Board was a major boost for the organisation.

“I welcome Carly to the Surfing Australia Board,” Innis said. “Surfing Australia is making significant investments in digital broadcasting and marketing and we’re excited to have someone of Carly’s expertise and experience in this area joining the Board and providing guidance as we expand our digital presence.”

Chairman of the Australian Sports Commission John Wylie welcomed the new appointment.

“This is an important announcement for Surfing Australia and I congratulate them,” Wylie said. “It is significant that this is the second female appointment on the Board, joining seven-time World Champion Layne Beachley.

“The Australian Sports Commission strongly supports Surfing Australia’s exciting new digital projects and the organisation’s new-look Board is well equipped to take on the challenge.”

Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark was extremely pleased to welcome Loder to the Board.

“Carly brings with her extensive experience in the marketing and digital broadcast world,” Stark said. “With our new venture into the world of digital innovation it was important the organisation brought a complimentary skill set onto the Board and Carly most certainly covers off on this area well.

“It is also great to have another female on the Board to sit alongside Layne Beachley. Carly comes onto the Board at an exciting point in the business and will add a much needed dimension in broadcast and digital technology and marketing.”
