Surfing WA Appoints New Directors Following Annual General Meeting

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 January, 2016 - Trigg Beach, Western Australia - Surfing WA has announced the appointment of two new Directors, Cannings Purple Managing Director Warrick Hazeldine and Clayton Pickworth, to the SWA Board. The new appointments are effective immediately following the retirement of long-term Director Errol Considine and past Chairman Bob Welch at the last Surfing Western Australia Annual General Meeting.

Warrick has extensive experience in media, government, investor and community relations advising Boards, leaders and senior executives. Warrick is a member of the Board of Governors of the National Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine Foundation which supports life-saving medical research in Anaesthesia, surgery and chronic pain. Warrick has also been a recipient of the WA Business News 40 under 40 winner recognising the top 40 entrepreneurs under the age of 40 and is a passionate surfer.

Clayton Pickworth will join the board as a Representative Director, charged with representing the growing bodyboard membership of SWA. Clayton has gained experience as an international official, as well as involvement with state and national events.

Surfing WA Chairman Mike Best is pleased to welcome the newly appointed Directors to build on the success of their predecessors.

"I'd like to welcome the recently appointed directors to the organisation as we continue to evolve and grow. We live in an increasingly complex world with multiple stakeholders and it's critical to the success of Surfing WA that we have the right mix of skills in place to advance the sport of surfing in WA. I'd also like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution of Errol and Bob over the past 6 years in helping to grow Surfing WA. We look forward to the opportunities ahead in 2016 including the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, growing events calendar and variety of community based initiatives aimed at reaching the broader surfing community."
