Kimi Werner talks about her life in the ocean
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 June, 2013 : - - Kimi Werner has taken her lifetime of ocean immersion in our Hawaiian waters to creatively turn her passion free-diving, spearfishing, painting and culinary arts into a career.
Born and raised on Maui, Kimi now resides at Pupukea, right here on Oahu’s Fabled North Shore. Her accomplishments include 2008 US National Spearfishing Champion; 2012 International Pacific Cup champion; a world-record catch last year with an 84-pound ono (Wahoo); and a culinary arts degree.
Kimi is an ambassador for Patagonia clothing company and her travels have taken her to the waters of the far northwest Hawaiian Islands, studying and swimming with great white sharks off Baja, and most recently to Indonesia.
This Thursday, June 20, Turtle Bay’s own Jodie Wilmott will sit down with Kimi Werner at 8 pm at Surfer the Bar.
Turtle Bay Resort is host and a part-time home to many of the world’s elite surfers, stand-up paddlers and surf industry executives. It is the official partner and headquarters to some of the world’s premier ocean events including The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, Pipeline Masters, SURFER Magazine Peer Poll Awards, SUP World Tour, Volcom Pipe Pro etc
