Surfing Australia opens inaugural Chippa Wilson Pro Surfer Camp
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 December, 2013 - Coolangatta - Twelve frothing grommets have taken to the skies as part of the inaugural Chippa Wilson Surfing Australia Pro Surfer Camp. One of the world’s finest exponents of aerial surfing, Wilson took the grommets through the basics of what it takes to spend their surfing time above the lip.
Held at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina in northern NSW, the groms had a chance to meet Wilson, go surfing with him, pick his brain on the secrets behind a big punt and also try out their best manoeuvres in the HPC’s gymnastics area.

“I had a rad day at the camp,” Chippa said. “Gymnastics class followed by a surf then reviewing the session on video with everyone was a blast. The kids were ripping.”
The camp was the second of the Surfing Australia Summer Pro Surfer Camps at the HPC following last week’s Mitch Crews Camp. Pro Surfer Camps to come will be hosted by Bede Durbidge (6-10 January) and Sally Fitzgibbons (13-17 January), while there are a host of other camps through all of Summer conducted by the HPC’s top coaches.
