FCS breaks down Filipe Toledo's equipment
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 November, 2015 - Filipe Toledo has cemented himself firmly in the WSL World Title race with a spectacular win at the Moche Rip Curl Pro in Portugal.
In testing conditions, the 100% FCS hardware rider tapped into his high flying repertoire to lock in a perfect 10 in the final, defeating fellow Brazilian Italo Ferreira. Now placed second on the WSL ratings, Filipe is in a great position to challenge FCS team mates Mick Fanning, Gabriel Medina, Adriano De Souza and Julian Wilson for this year’s World Title, set to be decided at Pipeline in December.
What did he ride?
While Filipe typically rides the FCS II Performer PCC Medium, the extra energy on hand at Supertubos in Peniche prompted a switch to the FCS II MF Medium template. This fin has a high degree of sweep, providing more control while encouraging a longer turning arc.
The new FCS II Acid Yellow plug featured on Filipe’s winning board. The new FCS II colored plugs add a nice hit of color to any new board, and are now being used by most of the WSL tour surfers.
The FCS 6’ Competition Leash is a favourite with professional surfers due to the thinner cord and low drag properties. The leash features a double swivel and deluxe high-density neoprene ankle strap with soft lycra edging.
Another favourite with the pros, this all-purpose 3 Piece pad is suited to performance boards; it has a multi-groove system and can be spread to accommodate different foot sizes. All FCS pads have been updated with new EVA materials, and feature perforations for extra resistance and sanded surfaces for enhanced grip.
