Air New Zealand will cut fares to Pacific islands
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 March 2004: - -
Air New Zealand will begin low-fare service to Fiji and other Pacific islands on May 20, cutting prices by as much as half. The Pacific Express service will include three economy-fare categories and a business class fare. On average, a third of the seats will be in the lowest fare category, the company said.
A round-trip flight to Fiji from Auckland will cost as little as 458 New Zealand dollars, or $304, a saving of 52 percent on existing low-season fares, the airline said.
Pacific Express will be available on flights to Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands from New Zealand and Australia. New Caledonia is expected to be included once approvals have been received. The plan mirrors low-fare services the company introduced within New Zealand in late 2002 and on routes to Australia in October. The airline´s key competitors are Qantas Airways and Virgin Blue Holdings.
