Carve Mag and crew launch plea to stop the sewage
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 July, 2014 - Carve Magazine is spearheading a campaign to stop the frequent sewage dumping that has shut several southwest UK beaches this year. An online petition is currently circulating so UK surfers can voice their concerns with South West Water department.
The BBC reported that a surfing event was postponed and bathers ordered out of the sea last month after sewage flowed onto a National Trust beach. According to the report RNLI lifeguards acted after the third sewage alert so far this year at Godrevy, Cornwall.
Letter from Carve Mag:
South West Water are a disgrace! They continue to dump raw sewage from their storm water outfalls (CSO's) despite all our protests refuse to fix their problems. As surfers in the south west we have all had enough so we were really pleased to see a Hayle resident has set up this petition. Their local outfall is discharging on sunny days, and it is totally unacceptable. We know this is the same right around the south west.
