World's first inland commercial surf park set to break ground
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 June, 2014 - The world's first inland commercial surfing destination will become a reality starting later this month. Construction is set to begin on UK's Surf Snowdonia, which is located on an old aluminium works site in the Conwy Valley.
The project will create 100 construction jobs as well as more that 60 jobs once it is open and operating.
The Wavegarden facility will include a 300m long surf lagoon with six foot waves as well as restaurants and play areas. Completion of the site is expected for next summer.
A spokesman said: “The project has been given a very warm welcome and powerful support at both regional and national level in Wales and will become a major contributor to the fortunes of the North Wales tourism economy.”
