Documentary gives viewers an inside look at the team's struggle
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 July, 2016 - Surfing America and two-time SUP Magazine "SUP Movie of the Year" winning director, Brent Deal, announce the official release date for the first ever documentary following the USA SUP/Paddleboard team: "Chasing Gold."
The 49-minute documentary gives the viewers an inside look at the team as they travel, live, compete and come together on a quest to accomplish a first for the USA - team gold at the 2015 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships in Sayulita, México. Viewers hear directly from the athletes one on one as they share their most intimate moments, fears, disappointments and triumphs.
"The access and honesty the members of the USA Sup/Paddleboard team gave me during their eight days of competition in Mexico is the entire reason this movie is so special," said director Brent Deal.
Deal and Surfing America are excited to announce the World Premiere of "Chasing Gold” on August 11th at the Newport Film Festival. The premiere is open to the public and tickets are available here.
All proceeds from the premiere will go to Surfing America to support the 2016 team as they prepare to defend their Team Gold at the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships in Fiji this November.
Appearing at the premiere will be members of the 2015 team as well as many other athletes from the sports of SUP and Paddleboarding.
"We are so grateful to have an accomplished and talented filmmaker like Brent Deal in our sport who has such a passion for SUP and Paddleboarding. This film really captures the emotion of the week in Mexico and is a great reminder to us all of the power of coming together and the strength of this sport in the US," said Greg Cruse, executive director of Surfing America.
Chasing Gold will be immediately available on Vimeo for rent and purchase (search "Chasing Gold Movie”), as well as iTunes, Amazon and Vudu in the coming days.
