VTC To Touch Down In West Australia This Weekend

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 March, 2016 - Volcom’s Totally Crustaceous Tour is headed West for the second event of the series, which is set to explode on Perth's metropolitan beaches this coming Saturday.

The Volcom TCT Surf Series is specifically designed for the best female and male talent to showcase their fresh, freakish and fearless skills in the water. The world-wide series aims to give talented youth the opportunity to gain competition experience, have fun and walk away with a tonne of prizes after a day competing.

Close to 90 surfers will lineup in age groups ranging from Pro Am Under 21’s through to the popular Squids 10 & Under division. The 2016 TCT Surf Series kicked off in Victoria last month and will head to New South Wales and Queensland after stopping in WA this weekend.

The top 4 winners from each qualifying event will be invited to the TCT National Championships, held at North Narrabeen, NSW on May 21st & 22nd. Over 2 days competitors will battle it out against the best surfers in the country to claim the 2016 TCT Australian title.
Australian Volcom TCT winners will then qualify for the Global Champships held at Trestles in California, where they will have the opportunity to surf one of the world’s best waves with only 3 other people and have a shot at the $30,000USD prize purse.

Volcom’s philosophy of creating a unique and highly inclusive environment that celebrates ‘having a go’ will shine through in this series according to their International Team Manager, Matt Bemrose.

“The TCT tour really puts the fun back into competitive surfing, from your top level pro to your ‘little buddy’ just starting out there is something for everyone. With the inclusion of the winner traveling to the US to compete in one of the best waves on the planet, Trestles, it’s hard not to get excited about the upcoming series." He said.
Notable competitors this weekend include; Josh Cattlin (Yallingup, WA), Jake Edwards (Cottesloe, WA), Ben Spence (Margaret River, WA), Alex McGuffin (Bicton, WA) Duke Nagtzaam (Yallingup, WA), Emi Campbell (Margaret River, WA) and Bailee Hastie (Gracetown, WA).

They will be joined by East coast talents Logan Steinwede (Wagstaffe, NSW) and Adam Varvaressos (Mona Vale, NSW) who are making the journey West to compete.
Surfing WA Events Manager, Justin Majeks, can’t wait to see the series return this weekend to WA.
“The Volcom TCT series has always been a big hit here in WA and we're stoked to see it's return in 2016," he said. “The draw is littered with some of WA's best young surfers and we've got a positive weekend surf forecast, which I'm sure is adding to the excitement for competitors."
The Voclom TCT will run on the best peaks on offer between North Scarborough and South Trigg on Saturday, with competition to commence at 7:20am with finals commencing in the early afternoon. The event schedule and heat draws will be posted online at on Thursday.

The 2016 Volcom TCT Surf Series is proudly supported by Vans, Electric, Futures Fins, Surfing Australia & Surfing Western Australia.
