Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 October, 2010 : - - WA grommets...Think you have what it takes to be a Wahu Super Grom? Well, grab your surfboard, boardies and towel and make your way to Trigg Beach for the opening event of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comps, which kicks off on the weekend of November 6-7 in Western Australia.

The 2010/’11 series is shaping up to be bigger and better with the eight scheduled events offering kids Australia wide the chance to get involved in surfing and enjoy the thrill of fun in sport. Strong WA surfers that have already entered stop no.1 of this year’s series include Jake Edwards (Mosman Park), Ry Myers (Dunsborough), Kael Walsh (Mt Claremont), Kila Hatchett (Margaret River) and Ace Van Peer (Mandurah).

These five young surfers are among the many that compete in the WA Junior Surfing Series and will bring those skills into this awesome event, which is as much about having fun as results. Surfing Western Australia Events Manager Justin Majeks says they’re expecting a big turnout for the Western Australia event.

“The Western Australia event of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comps is a great way for young kids to get involved in surfing, participate in fun games, meet new people and begin a lifestyle in surfing whether it be for leisure or competition,” said Majeks. “It’s good to see some high quality competitors keen to test their skills against each other in mirco groms (U9) right up to the U15 boys and girls divisions.”

Five state branches (WA, SA, VIC, NSW and QLD) will play host to the exciting, all grommet affairs, and has been expanded to eight events nationally. Each event will promote healthy, outdoor fun with games, surfing and competitions with the main objective to encourage kids to be active, enjoy life and have fun.

The surfer groms cater for the micro groms (U/9) to the big kids alike (U/15) of any level boys and girls, and is all about providing fun with a competitive environment. Entries are filling fast so don’t miss out on your opportunity to participate in giveaways, prizes and tons of beach games.

Each entrant will receive an uber-cool Wahu Surfer Groms Comp T-shirt and will go into the running to win daily Wahu beach products. Divisions include: Under 15 boys and girls, Under 13 boys and girls, Under 11 boys and girls and Under 9 boys and girls combined (parent assist).
