Champions Crowned As Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage Concludes In Style
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 September, 2009 : - - Gold Coast Queensland -- Coolangatta's Noa Deane 15, current U/16 Queensland state age-champion, today captured the blue ribbon 16 and under Boys division of the Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage, qualifying for the international leg of the prestigious junior surfing series.
Held in testing, 0.5m beach break conditions at Duranbah Beach, Deane stylishly attacked the beach break peaks on the final day of competition, scoring a combined heat total of 15.67 (out of a possible 20) including a 9.0 ride (out of a possible 10) in the final to defeat Tommy Boucout (Ocean Shores, NSW), Josh Sherwell (Mooloolaba, QLD) and Jake Cumberland (Kirra, QLD) who finished second to fourth respectively.
Deane said he was extremely proud to be crowned the 2009 Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage Champion. “I was confident heading into the final but knew in the back of my mind there were some talented surfers out there, so to win an event as cool and the Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage is awesome,” said Deane.
“The Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage is a great lead in event for me before I compete in the Australian Junior Titles on the Sunshine Coast in November,” he said. Meanwhile Noosaville grommet, Nick Callister, 13, outclassed fellow Sunshine Coast surfer Kai Hing (Wurtulla), Luke Hynd (Surfers Paradise) and Zac Whitman (Lennox Head) to win the 13 and under Boys division.

Surfing Queensland Events Manager Scott Gillies said the Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage seems to get better every year. “The Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage is undeniably one of the most enjoyable events on the calendar for young surfers to compete in,” said Gillies.
“The fun and competitive atmosphere of the Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage is a fantastic concept for a junior surfing event and add in the region’s best junior surfers and you simply can’t go wrong,” he said. The international Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage will be held at Cronulla (NSW) in December. The Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage is proudly supported by Ocean & Earth and Surfing Queensland.
