    23 January, 2015 - BOARDRIDERS: Defending champions Snapper Rocks Surfriders are facing a major challenge to their title after a dramatic Day 1 of the Original Source Australian Boardriders Battle National Final at Cronulla. Snapper is in a fierce battle with a pack of heavyweight clubs including North Narrabeen and Merewether. The newest club at the event, Culburra Boardriders from southern NSW, is also in contention despite a day of drama for their star female surfer Tyler Wright.

    22 January, 2015 - SHARKS: The numbers are in for shark activity along the Pacific coast of North America for 2014. In all there were six authenticated, unprovoked shark attacks on humans according to the Shark Research Committee, an independent shark study group.

    20 January, 2015 - RIP: Ricardo dos Santos has died in a Brazilian hospital where he was last listed in critical condition. Ricardo was shot Monday morning after an altercation in Praia da Guarda do Embaú, near Palhoca in Santa Catarina.

The surf continued to pump out the goods as the event ran through the Quarterfinals, Semis and Final with competitors holding nothing back in the fight for all-important QS6000 ranking’s points.

    15 January, 2015 - NATIONALS: Two high intensity rounds of the Open Men’s Division whittled down the field of surfers to the final four on day five of the 2015 Billabong National Surfing Championships driven by Subaru held at Piha Beach, Auckland today. The surf had dropped overnight but was still 1.0m – 1.5m with clean surface conditions throughout the morning followed by afternoon sea breezes.     14 January, 2015 - NATIONALS: Defending Open Men’s Champion Billy Stairmand (Raglan) made an impressive start to his campaign at the 2015 Billabong National Championships driven by Subaru today winning through to the final 16 surfers. Day four of the event saw the swell remain in the 1.5m – 2.0m range with a nice early morning offshore wind that turned sea breeze later in the day. The improvement in conditions was enough to put the pinnacle Open Men’s Division in the water first thing in the morning after three days of waiting for the top seeds.
