    17 February, 2015 - WSL QS: It’s the calm before the storm at the Burton Automotive Pro as competition ran through a day of small wind groomed peaks, but all eyes have been on the surf forecast as the weekend has potential for 8 - 10 foot monster waves for an epic finish to the 30th Anniversay of Newcastle’s Surfest. This year’s World Surf League (WSL) men’s event holds a QS6000 (Qualifying Series) rating and the Burton Automotive Women’s Classic is a QS1000 and could start tomorrow.

Situated at Merewether Beach, the cultivating ground for so many former great Australian surfers including four-time World Surf League (WSL) World Champion Mark Richards along with other greats the likes of Nicky Wood, Matt Hoy, Simon Law and Luke Egan, the men’s QS6000 (Qualifying Series) division began in wind swept high performance 3 foot surf that provided good sections for some power packed performances.

    15 February, 2015 - WSL QS: Laura Enever and Kolohe Andino have fought through a solid field of the world’s best surfers to be crowned the men’s and women’s Hurley Australian Open of Surfing champions. This prestigious World Surf League QS6000 event saw Manly Beach turn on the charm all week and produce great surf, sunshine and an exciting finish to Sydney’s biggest surfing event. Andino is the event’s NO. 2 seed and did’t disappoint all week, lighting up the lineup with inverted aerials and powerful wraps and snaps.
