Official Beer Sponsor announced by Surfing Queensland
Tooheys Extra Dry to be the Surfers Beer in Queensland
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 December 2004: - - It was announced that Tooheys Extra Dry will become the official beer of Surfing Queensland until at least 2007. The new agreement delivers association and pourage rights for all Surfing Queensland events and will mean that beer drinkers will be able to enjoy the clean crisp taste of Tooheys Extra Dry at Surfing Queensland functions and at all of Queensland’s Surf Clubs.
Surfing Queensland Chief Executive Officer Andrew Stark said: “As the Official Beer of Surfing Queensland and via it’s associations with other state surfing bodies, Tooheys Extra Dry has a strong pedigree as a supporter of surfing across Australia. We are pleased to be hooking up with a brand that has a record of adding to the excitement of surfing competitions across the country and one that’s really popular with the surfing community”.
The 3 year deal incorporates the Tooheys Extra Dry Wave of the Day in each of the six prestigious Billabong Queensland Championship Circuit events, and also the four events as part of the Printpoint Queensland Masters Surfing Circuit. The winner of each “Tooheys Extra Dry Wave of the Day” will take away 5 cartons of Tooheys Extra Dry to enjoy. The nation’s hottest beer brand will be the beverage of choice for the surfers at special events and presentation nights.
Castlemaine Perkins Managing Director Ken Freer said: “Tooheys Extra Dry is a great seller for Castlemaine Perkins up in Queensland, where we’ve seen fantastic growth of 75% over the last 12 months. Tooheys Extra Dry has been a perfect fit with surfing nationally so we believe it will work really well in association with Surfing Queensland”.
Tooheys Extra Dry replaces Castlemaine Perkins’ XXXX brand as sponsor. XXXX has been a key sponsor for the past two years.
Stark continued: “It’s great to be able to build on the success of our relationship with Castlemaine Perkins over the past two years. The support of Castlemaine Perkins has been instrumental in the development of key surfing events and the XXXX Queensland Championship Circuit.”
As the official beer of Surfing Queensland Tooheys Extra Dry will continue to support key surfing events including club and longboarding events, and the much anticipated Billabong Queensland Championship Presentation nights.
