    The annual Noosa Festival of Surfing came to a close on the weekend

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 09 March 2005: - - Featuring the 5A ALC (Australian Longboard Circuit) rated Surftech Men's Pro Longboard division and the 6A ALC rated Reef Hotel Women's Pro Longboard division the Noosa Festival of Surfing attracted some of Australia's and the world's top professional longboard surfers.

    In the Surftech Men's Pro it was Sunshine Coast local Grant Thomas who claimed victory, $2300 in prizemoney and 1500 valuable points towards the ALC ratings. Thomas defeated Ian Bell, Harley Ingleby and Josh Constable in the final and has now moved into first position on the ALC ratings.

    With the top 5 positions on the men's ALC ratings claiming advanced seeding into the World Longboard Tour event later this year competition is set to explode when the next ALC event, the Suzuki Longboard Pro commences on the 16th - 17th April 2005 in Mandurah, WA.

    In the Reef Hotel Women's Pro it was the lone international competitor in the final, Joy Maggelson of Hawaii who claimed victory and the $800 cheque for first place. Maggelson defeated three NSW competitors in Chelsea Williams, Jodie Barsby and Lisa Nicholson in that order.

    The women's ALC ratings are currently lead by Gretchen Jorgensen (NSW).
