Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 October, 2006 : - - The International Surfing Association, (ISA), is pleased to announce that results for the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship anti doping tests all came back negative.  None of the athletes tested positive for anti doping during the event held in Maresias, a beach town which is located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, this past May. 

The event held in May saw competitors ages 18 and under from 27 different nations from around the world.  There are three different categories for this event, which are Girls 18 and under, Boys 18 and under, and Boys 16 and under. The ISA conducts anti doping tests on the four finalists in each category. 

All the tests were negative, although 2 of the tests could not be completed because the athletes did not completely close the flasks, causing them to leak, leaving not enough urine for testing. The two athletes involved will be tested again in the near future, though the results of this new testing will not have any effect on the Juniors results. 

If these athletes are found to be tested positive, they will then be prohibited from competing in any ISA event for 2 years. The ISA is committed to a doping-free sport and strictly complies with its Anti Doping Code which is based on WADA’s (World Anti Doping Agency), code.  

The ISA performs anti doping testing on all finalists at all ISA events, and will be also performing random testing throughout competition at all future events.
