DYLA ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF ONLINE WOMEN’S ACTION SPORTS MAGAZINE
The first free online magazine for women’s surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and motocross is now live
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 November, 2009 : - - San Clemente, CA*- November 3, 2009- DYLA Magazine recently announced the launch of the first US- based free online magazine dedicated to providing complete coverage in women’s action sports: surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and motocross (www.DYLAmagazine.com). The name derives from a rearrangement of the letters of the word “LADY,” a fun, bold brand that appeals to the action sports lover.
In an industry that is male-dominated, women’s participation in action sports is growing exponentially every year; however media coverage of the women’s action sports lifestyle is not up to speed. After identifying a niche that needed to be filled, like-minded people teamed up to assemble DYLA to create a project that will move the emerging female action sports industry forward.
“Our ambition is simple,” said DYLA Editor/Photographer Nicole Grodesky. “In an industry widely dominated by men, we want to create a media outlet completely tailored to women’s needs and tastes. We want to give a voice to all female athletes, female owned businesses and to every girl, lady or woman who partakes in, loves and lives for action sports and for fun!”
The magazine is updated daily with the latest in women’s action sports news, features, video, lifestyle, and horoscopes. Reaching across international borders, DYLA provides coverage of major events with insight from athletes and female figures in the action sports industry.
“The launch of DYLA is a long time coming,” said Associate Editor Jenna Goldberg. “Women of action sports have needed a platform not only to find contest results, but to share a common voice and our love of this great lifestyle so many women lead, across the globe.”
With a strong social media following and international viewers, DYLA Magazine staff is confident in providing the highest quality in coverage and building recognition of women’s action sports. The magazine has posted firsthand accounts record breaking events this summer, including the first air in women’s NSSA competition by Lakey Peterson at NSSA Nationals, and the biggest prize purse in women’s skateboarding history at the Maloof Money Cup 2009.
“It’s literally an industry full of action, and the women should not be overlooked. DYLA strives to provide late-breaking news, but also to be an archival source for history in the making,” said Goldberg.
As the season turns to snow DYLA Magazine won’t miss a beat, promising full coverage of women’s snowboarding and continued enthusiasm for the action sports lifestyle.
