Hi From Teahupoo, tahiti, at the 'End of the Road' | Slideshow
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 August, 2012 : - - I'm once again I'm on the ground in Teahupo'o covering the Billabong Pro Tahiti which kicked off on Thursday. I've covered this event every year since it was the Black Pearl won by a young Andy Irons back in the late 90's and it's always a pleasure coming back to the little village of Teahupo'o at the End of the Road.
Monday (13 August): A clean swell in the 3' range with light offshore winds at the start of the day before an onshore sea breeze kicked in around midday. Wednesday: The Opening Ceremony of the Billabong Pro Tahiti was held today on the Point at the End of The Road. Traditional Tahitian dancing was part of the ceremony. The swell was in the 2'-3' range but seemed to be building during the day.
Thursday (16 August): The Billabong Pro Tahiti got underway today in 3'-4' surf at Teahupoo. Round One was completed and two heats of Round Two rounded out the day. Conditions varied throughout the day with a slight cross shore wind affecting the wave quality at times. There were also some clean barrels on offer.
Friday: The Billabong Pro Tahiti continued today in 3'-4' surf at Teahupoo. Round Two was completed before the contest was called off for the day. Conditions varied throughout the day with a cross shore wind affecting the wave quality at times. There were also some clean barrels on offer under the overcast skies.
