Paige hits the slopes, trading her surfboard for skis
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 August, 2013 : - - I've been skiing since I could walk, snowboarding since I was six years old, and going to the snow every year since then so I guess you could say I love it. Being a pro surfer, I still try to find a few days a year to hit the snow.
I used to be in the Wanaka Ski Acadamy when I was 14 years old and skied at Treble Cone everyday. So I decided to head down there, staying in the cool tourist town, Queenstown. This was the first time I've been back. That's nine years! To be honest not a lot had changed, it only bought back great memories and reminded me of how much I missed it.
Checking out the luge
I had forgotten how beautiful it really is down there. Mountains all around you and the lakes have the clearest, craziest looking blues and greens I have ever seen. That's saying something since being a surfer I do see a lot of water.
Only there for a week, it was still a nice break from beaches, hot weather, and surfing although I am looking forward to getting back to that environment. I managed to survive the week with no broken bones however, I still felt a few new muscles! Maybe that was from my luge race...
With a tight schedule, I fly home for one night before flying out the next day to France. Over a month in Europe for my last four events of the year. Lets do this!
